Trampled By Turtles
Trampled by Turtles is an acoustic quintet from Duluth, MN. Based on their instrumentation, the initial instinct is to view the band as a bluegrass or new-grass outfit, but spend more than a moment with their music and it is clear that the band's influences run much deeper. Mixing traditional American roots and string music with a Northern musical sensibility, adding in the years the five-piece spent in indie rock and punk bands, TxT has harnessed their diverse influences to create four discs of original music on their own Banjodad imprint. With Palomino, their first album for Nashville's Thirty Tigers/RED, TxT alternates between mercurial riff-based dazzlers and emotional, lyrically wrenching ballads.
Tickets on sale June 10 - $10 presale/$12 DOS

Jonathan Tyler and the Northern Lights
Contrary to doomsayer rumor, rock music doesn't need saving. But a wake-up call is long overdue, and this is it. Actually, not just a wake-up call, but a joyous reunion of rock with its oft-forgotten prodigal twin, the roll — with papa blues and mama soul along for the ride, too. All of which makes Pardon Me the perfect introduction to one of the most electrifying young bands in America — or at least the next best thing to experiencing Jonathan Tyler and the Northern Lights live. Literally. $10.

The New Mastersounds
The New Mastersounds are a four-piece band based in Leeds, England, whose modern take on vintage soul-jazz, funk and rock draws influences from Jimmies McGriff, Smith, and Hendrix, as well as their most closely-associated mentors, The Meters. Try to imagine Grant Green and Lou Donaldson having a fight in a Hammond Organ shop while James Brown holds the coats, and you have some idea of what to expect from this band. Their first single, One Note Brown, was released on Blow It Hard Records in 2000 and was passionately championed by acclaimed Northern Soul and funk DJ Keb Darge. To date, the band has released four studio records: 102%, This Is What We Do, Be Yourself, Keb Darge Presents… as well as The New Mastersounds Re::Mixed, and Live At La Cova. Also of note: their single, "Your Love Is Mine" featuring Corinne Bailey Rae, was used in the 2007 Warner Brothers movie Feast of Love. $15

Finn Riggins
It's rare for a band to tour for 245 days in the span of a year. It's even less common for said band to:
a) Hail from Hailey, Idaho (population 7,844) and
b) Decide to relocate to a small, shared cabin in the Pioneer Mountain Range for those 120 days per year that they are home.
Fortunately for us, Idaho three-piece Finn Riggins embraces and exemplifies the glory inherent in approaching one's creative life from an anomalous perspective.

JB Beverly and the Wayward Drifters
Have you ever wondered what happened to REAL country music? Sadly, it has been pushed into the underground by the image-consumed, money-making monster of the corporate music industry. These days, only a few brave souls dare to make the kind of authentic country music that honors American heritage and culture; rooted in the influence of Jimmie Rodgers, Hank Williams, Johnny Cash, Merle Haggard, and the other all-but-forgotten legends of the genre. Genuine country music reflects real life, and not the latest fashion trends. One of the strongest and most charismatic forces in the real country music arena is J.B. Beverley & The Wayward Drifters.

Old Man Markley
Not an old man at all, but rather a young, unsigned, nine-member group working in such homespun instruments as kazoo, train whistle, autoharp, and washboard alongside more traditional pickin' n' grinnin' with banjos, fiddles, bass and drums. It's a hoedown and a throwdown and it’ll keep ya from feelin' lowdown

Forest Day
I am Forrest Day: beatmaker, songwriter, sax-player, and singer.
My name also represents the nastiest 7-piece band you ever heard. We are at our best now, two years running, and beginning to reach other cities and states. If you have not been to a show then you are missing out; it is ridiculous! We are almost done recording our first full-length album at the beautiful Hyde Street Studios in San Francisco, to be released in early 2010.
My style will always be free, and I will continue to do whatever I want. I am traveling with this band, city by city, and showing people what we do. It is a truly grassroots effort. So come see us, support real music, and support a group of people who do what they do purely for the love of it.

Big Sam's Funky Nation
BIG SAM'S FUNKY NATION: Presiding over his Funky Nation is Big Sam, formerly the trombonist for the Dirty Dozen Brass Band, who blows the funk out of his trombone and refuses to let the audience sit still. Between solos and trombone riffs, Big Sam second-lines (a uniquely New Orleans style of street-dance) and gets the crowd going both in movement and in replies to his call-and-response MC-style. A talented group of jazz-trained musicians makes up the Funky Nation, bringing with them the improv-style associated with jazz and the horn-heavy front section that's the hallmark of big band funk. Theirs, and Big Sam's, exuberant dancing and playing, afford them a rare opportunity to let loose. Big Sam's Funky Nation has undeniable personality, as well as masterful chops..............................

Old Death Whisperer
Old Death Whisper... a recipe handed down to Grandaddy Jake Santee back in 1878 by an Indian chief of an unknown tribe in northern California, was 194 proof moonshine; which was believed to give immortality. It's rumored that Jake is still alive today due to his frequent use of Old Death Whisper. Old Death Whisper is also a band of gentlemen playing and writing original country music from the banks of the Big Wood River in central Idaho. Like their previous incarnation, The Damphools, Old Death Whisper sticks to a simple philosophy. That being, the music should reflect the bands integrity, its weaknesses and its strengths. The sound is loose and raucous with elements of the muddy delta, the dusty Texas deserts, and the mountains of the west and the dark forests of Appalachia. Sometimes high in octane like Jake Santee's moonshine, Old Death Whisper feels like it could give you immortality. And then with the next song, they can drag you through the mud of some dark swamp and leave you for dead (and loving it). The live shows are full of piss and vinegar and guaranteed to get you and your gal dancing. Rockers, kickers, cowboy angels, old timers, greasers and punks alike will enjoy Old Death Whisper and their brand of rural junkyard folk and cut throat honky tonk. $5

Band of Heathens
A misprint in a local paper billed the act as "The Heathens." The moniker stuck and soon The Band of Heathens began to cultivate a loyal and growing legion of fans that immediately took to the expert musicianship, the finely-crafted songs and the band's distinct quality of having three front men, each one of whom sings, writes and plays lead guitar. In March 2007, drummer John Chipman joined the band and helped fortify their country-soul-rock-and-roll sound.
The Band of Heathens were recognized at the 2006/2007 Austin Music Awards as the Best New Band, and have since taken the show on the road across the country, working as hard as any band on the scene right now. $10

What happens when you mix different people, from different backgrounds, with different musical styles? What happens when all of these people have a deep love and respect for their art form? You create the unique irie tones of Louisiana reggae/funk band Henry Turner Jr. & Flavor.
The concept for the band started with Turner's idea to develop a completely new kind of music, a fusion of contemporary and ethnic rhythms that would appeal to a cross section of fans in national and international markets, therefore creating a brand new music genre – Louisiana Reggae/Funk. $5
